Lifting Wedge for Resin Printing
September 17, 2025

Removing prints from the build plate of a resin 3D printer can sometimes be a challenge. You want the model to stick securely to the plate while printing, but not so securely that you can't get it off. I've seen videos of people taking metal scrapers or putty knives to their plates, which risks damage to the surface and exacerbates the problem for future prints.
Early on, I made a small 3D file that I've been adding to all of my resin printing build plates. It's a small circular wedge, 10mm in diameter, about half the size of a penny. It's got a lip on the leading edge that is just high enough to get a gloved fingernail or a flexible plastic keycard style scraper underneath. This gives you a leverage point, and causes prints to just pop right off the build plate. Just add it to the raft of your model on the build plate, and you're good to go, with minimal excess waste.
If you'd like to give it a go, you can get my model file here, and start adding it to your own resin printer build plates.
